May 19, 2016 at 2:25 pmHi All! I was on the Pill for about 17 years, went off May 2015 and have been charting for pregnancy prevention. I've had rather short cycles (ranging from 22-25 days typically), and every month I have spotting during my luteal phase. My typical luteal phase is 11-12 days long, and I spot for about the last 5 days before my period. One cycle I spotted for 10 of 11 days. I reached out to my OBGYN who sent me for blood work to check my TSH levels (thyroid) and that was fine. I then had a transvaginal ultrasound on day 8 of my cycle and my uterus and ovaries looked normal (they saw follicles on my R ovary). My Dr said that my new norm may be shorter cycles and that the only way to control my hormones and prevent spotting and lengthen them is to go back on the pill. My husband and I are considering starting a family soon, so I don't want to go back on the Pill for that reason among all the other reasons I learned about in TCOYF. I know that spotting and short luteal phases can make implantation hard, and it could be caused by low progesterone (I think that's what it is, I need to look back in the book!). I've also noted that while I do have definiate thermal shifts, they aren't always the recommened 3/10 of a degree above the coverline. Many cycles my temps raise up and I have a noticeable thermal shift, but my temps meander up and down a bit, and often times do not always level out or stay 3/10 above the coverline (For example this month my highest temps before ovulation was 97.3, on day 16 it went up to 97.6. From there it's been 97.5, 97.8, 97.7, 97.5, 97.6, 97.9). Could this be my bodies way of telling me my hormones are off (estrogen too high still, progesterone too low)? Thanks so much for taking the time to read my post, I appreciate any help or suggestions you may have!
